Somethings are just different in the land of Oz...

Though there are many similarities between America and Australia, some things are just plain different.  You may witness the differences in a particularly unusual turn of phrase.  You might here an Aussie angrily say, "I'm really getting the sh*ts." At first, you'll look at them oddly and silently try to figure out why they chose to announce such a thing.  Eventually, you'll add the evidence up in your head (1) they didn't get up running for the bathroom, and (2) they remain angry, and you'll figure out this saying is the equivalent to an American saying, "I'm really getting pissed."  Once you know this fact, you'll still have to try not to laugh at the Aussies as they angrily announce their periodic cases of "the shits" because you just can't help but think of diarrhea every time they say this.

Yet, life goes on in the country that not your own just as it would back home. You live, you learn, you cope.  Somethings are the same and somethings are different.  You will walk down the aisles of the grocery store and marvel at how similar yet different things seem to be.  That is all part of daily life, in the world turned upside down.

Dear Readers,
Please amuse yourself with photographic evidence of cereal differences between America and Oz. Cheers.
